Named Internships Jennette’s Pier

NAMED INTERNSHIPS

Each summer, thousands of Jennette’s Pier visitors take part in education programs, field trips, camps and other activities. These activities are both fun and educational, and create lasting memories for those who participate. Helping teach these classes and programs are college students, working at Jennette’s Pier as summer interns. The Jennette’s Pier is actively seeking sponsors for these internships.

Jennette’s Pier Interns are typically rising sophomores and juniors at four-year colleges like East Carolina University, UNC Wilmington, UNC Chapel Hill, NC State University, Duke University, and others. Summer Interns are chosen each spring through a competitive selection process. Internships may also be arranged for fall or spring, and may include disciplines such as journalism, recreation, design, and veterinary science.

These students—many of whom are studying marine biology, ecology, elementary education, or wildlife science—bring energy and enthusiasm to the Jennette’s Pier team. Not only do they help the Pier with their work, but they grow their own careers with real-world experience caring for live animals, teaching youth and interacting with professional staff. They may be collecting animals and tabulating water chemistry one day, and leading a kayak adventure the next. Every day is a new challenge for our interns!

Sponsorship of one Intern is $2,500 for one year. The Jennette’s Pier is seeking a minimum commitment of five years ($12,500) for each Named Internship. The sponsor will be recognized with appropriate signage at the facility’s education classroom space. Additionally, named recognition is provided on permanent displays at all three NC Aquariums and Jennette’s Pier.
